Planning Your Party - A Step by Step Guide

Let’s get this party started!

Two months before your party.

1. Choose your theme. There are thousands of ideas on the internet, just go find your theme with Mom’s help, of course.

2. Then go to a local search engine - try www.yellowpages.com.my to find out where you can get “party themes” shops near where you are. Give the shops a call to ask them if they have the theme you want.

3. Pick a weekend date and time for your party. Even though there are birthdays on week days, but for your party, choose the nearest weekend.

4. Pick a location. Will the party be at home or at the poolside, the field near your house, or even at a special location like the zoo or a theme park? Wow, this is getting more and more exciting! If it’s at the zoo or theme park, give them a call to find out more.

5. Now you can build a guest list. Who do you want with you to celebrate your birthday? Of course grandmas and grandpas, uncles and aunties, cousins. How about school friends, classmates, teachers? Don’t forget your neighbours too. It’s good if you have a detailed list (how many kids, how many adults) things like that.

6. The best part is the fun part are games and entertainment. Do you want a clown, or a magician? What about a bounce gym? Get mom to book the clown or magician. Two games will be good, three even better. Remember to buy presents and wrap them up nicely for the winners!

One Month Before Your Party

1. Get your invitation cards, fill them up and send them out by mail, or email. Call them to ask if they’re coming.
2. Get Mom to buy all the party supplies such as decorations, party favours, the games and other activities. Always buy a little bit more.
3. Food! Plan what food and drink you want to have for your birthday. Mom is your best advisor on this!
4. Get your team together to organize and ensure that everyone has fun!

Two Weeks Before Your Party

1. Start looking for the tables and chairs in your home that you’ll be using for your party. Same goes for plates and cups, forks and spoons.
2. Update your guest list and get the total number of guests who are coming to your party.
3. Decide on the menu and make the shopping list.

One Week Before Your Party

1. Order your cake.
2. Get all the party decorations from your local shop.
3. Buy the prizes for your games and gift wrap nicely.

Three Days Before Your Party

1. Get all the cameras, video-cameras and batteries ready
2. Do your grocery shopping.
3. Prepare your party favours.

One Day Before Your Party

1. Clean the area where your party will be held (if at home / or by the poolside)
2. Get your cake and keep it in the fridge.
3. Get the balloons and begin decorating the area.

Party Day!

1. Set up the games
2. Set out all the furniture required
3. Begin your party!

At the end of the day, after everyone has gone home and you are left with all your new presents, say a big thank you to Mom and Dad!
